Research in the Disease Research Labooratory (DRL)
targets immunity to mycobacterial infections in domestic
livestock (sheep and deer) and wildlife (Cape buffalo).

diagnosis, vaccination and selection for heritable resistance
are studied.
Diagnostic tests developed by DRL under Professor Griffin's

of Mycobacterial diseases in ruminants. The main diseases
being studied are Tuberculosis (TB); caused by Mycobacterium
